Special Events
The Toronto Athletic Club will be hosting the 19th annual Dennis Goodfellow Memorial Squash Tournament on behalf of Junior Achievement of Central Ontario.
Wednesday April 24 and Thursday 25, 2013
The event includes sixteen; three-person singles teams and six doubles teams in a friendly but competitive tournament. The bonus opportunity is to see and possibly compete against some of the top pros and juniors in the country. The evening matches will commence at approximately 4:00 pm.
Thanks to the generous support of our past sponsors and participants (see below for 2012 participants), this tournament will have raised over half a million dollars towards JA programs such as “Economics for Success”, “Dollars with Sense”, and Company Program. The net funds raised have funded program delivery to over 1,100 classrooms or 29,500 kids in the GTA and surrounding area
Junior Achievement of Central Ontario provides relevant business and economics programs delivered by business volunteers/advisors who share their practical experience. The Boston Consulting Group’s 2011 Impact Study reported that JA creates an annual return of $45 for every one dollar spent, in terms of societal prosperity by helping youth stay in school; encouraging new businesses; and providing today’s youth with valuable skills they will need to participate and succeed in a global economy. That translates into a $22 million impact on Canada’s economy –directly attributed to the funds this squash event has raised.
